2009-2010 Deck Builders Challenge Official Rules & Regulations

·       All contestants must complete a Deck Builders Challenge registration form prior to purchasing the materials to be used on the deck to be entered.

·       $10,000 Grand prize for best deck of the year over 500 Sq. Ft. (Prize money will be awarded in the form of a check payable to the winner and the prize winner will receive a 1099)

·       $5,000 Grand prize for best deck of the year under 500 Sq. Ft. (Prize money will be awarded in the form of a check payable to the winner and the prize winner will receive a 1099)

·       All decking, framing and rail products must be purchased from Sequoia Supply Co. Inc.

·       Deck must be code compliant, and conform to all township zoning requirements.

·       Contestants will receive an additional 5% credit on all framing and railing, as well as an additional $2 a board credit on decking, to be used on a future deck order.  Customer must submit photos to receive store credit. Upon submission of photos of the initial deck entered into The Deck Builders Challenge customer will receive rebate in the form of a gift card within 30 days. (Normal contractor discounts will apply on any subsequent decks entered; there is no limit to the amount of entries.)

·       We are truly looking for the undisputed “Best Deck of the Year”, decks will be judged by an independent panel with no affiliation to Sequoia Supply, our vendors, contestants or product manufacturers.  

·       Judging will be based on, but not limited to the following:

1.      Craftsmanship

2.      Originality

3.      Design

4.      Creativity

5.      Use of products in design

6.      Use of accessories; including lighting, kitchens, landscaping, etc.

7.      Homeowner’s satisfaction with contractor and completed job

·       Initial judging will be based on photographs submitted by the deck builder and/or homeowner.  Three finalists will be chosen in each category, and a final decision will be made based on a physical inspection by our panel of judges.

·       All entered decks must be completed by and photo received by sequoia Supply by August 30, 2010.  A winner in each category will be announced at our September, 2010 contractor event.

·       Photo submissions will become the property of Sequoia Supply Inc. Sequoia Supply reserves all rights to all photo submissions and the rules and regulations of the Deck Builders Challenge.
